Amerer Air: History

Amerer Air was Austria’s largest dedicated cargo airline, flying freight out of Linz for international express carriers for roughly three decades before ending flight operations in 2011.

Austria’s Cargo Specialist

Owned by Heinz Peter and Susanne Amerer, Amerer Air began operations in 1995 with a single Fokker F27 Mk500 freighter, based at Linz Airport and also flying out of Cologne. From 1997, two Lockheed L-188 Electras joined the fleet, flying for the parcel carriers UPS and TNT across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa until 2006. In 1999 the company expanded into international road freight to complement its air cargo business.

The End in 2011

In October 2011, Amerer Air ceased all airline type operations.
